5 drawer beachy chest in seafoam blue

Today I have finished a retro chest of drawers in the seafoam blue shade but it could easily pass for duck egg :) I have stripped and waxed the drawers for a beachy raw look and added jute knobs (I love these pulls, they make a fancy piece casual and add something extra special to square pieces!)
Perfect in many rooms in the house - hallway, nursery, bedrooms? The bottom, side edges are a little frayed but I have used the paint and sanding methods to work them into the  rustic look :)

The measurements are 73w 34d 87h.

Chippy yellow junior chair

Here are some pictures of the vintage jarrah highchair that I found in an antique store a couple of weeks ago. A really lovely piece, but the tray section was quite dated and not functioning brilliantly, so I decided to just take that piece off and turn this into a junior chair.
It has obviously had many lives and served several generations, as there were a good few layers of varnish built up on the piece. I thought a bright coat of paint and a very chippy look would suit it well. Its very solid, but definitely rustic with bags of character!
So now we have a junior chair that fits up tight to a dining table very well, to keep those kids that think they're older than they are in one place, whilst you cram as much food into their little bodies as possible!

In the dog house!

Here's a fun piece that I painted up this afternoon. I found this kennel for sale and thought it had potential with a little colour - who says only us humans get to live in stylish pads? My pooch of choice (4 years, happy to have a nose painted on and stick plastic bone in his mouth.....easily fits in door etc) did a great job......

A lovely cute home for a fury family member, clean and solid in grey & antique white...

Then we all want a go....!

Less talking, more doing!

So, I've got a little slack at posting anything particularly meaty in the last month - when you click onto my blog you will have been automatically taken to the ''my work/for sale'' tab - which is where you may want to spend most of your time anyway? Then if you want to have a poke around elsewhere, please feel free to.

Life is just particularly busy at the moment, with the weather so beautiful, we are all wanting to spend more time outside and I'm loving that - I'm still here though, still sourcing and painting......but just without so many words?!

White-washed hall table

Just a quickie post - a piece that I listed for sale late last week. I found & painted a lovely small hall table in the sunshine whilst the kids played in the garden. I pretty much knew I wanted a white and clean look, but then once the piece is all painted, the urge within me to distress or age usually appears. Well not this time, friends! I just loved the pure, clean look, even on the hardware, so white she has stayed! A simple chalk point and wax look, very French and elegant....love her!

Antique white oak buffet/sideboard

My kids have all had the awful chesty cold that's been flying around, so my nursing efforts have been well and truly tested (on a 24 hr shift pretty much all week!) - I really wanted to get out and finish this buffet and this afternoon, I have been able to do that!
Its a really lovely sold piece (I think oak) so I have sanded back the top to a raw state and the body has been painted in an antique white. There are 2 roomy drawers, a huge storage area below and lovely bright blue drawer pulls. I left the original drop pulls on the doors, they look very cute!

Measurements are 136W x 50D x 96H - a great buffet or sideboard, I think it would look just great in a modern or traditional setting :)

Large country style sideboard/buffet

I bought a large country buffet from an elderly lady who was clearing out her Mothers home in a really nice area of Perth. It was a great find, solid wood, a beautiful traditional shape. loads of storage and heavy as anything...a great addition to any home. I'm using these pictures as inspiration to finish the piece in the next few days.....

See you back here in a few days with the finished product!

Itty bitty ladder

Today has been really warm! Yippee! A real taste of summer here in WA. Everyone having fun in the garden. Not loving the mozzies however :(
Anyway....don't you just love these cute lil' ladders?

I found one in a garage when I was buying some other furniture and the lady was happy to sell it. It's been well used, so definitely just a display object, (its strong, I just don't want accidents on my conscience!) I gave it a coat of pistachio, then white chalk paint and distressed and waxed it. New cotton rope makes it all together a lovely little feature piece for a nursery, home office, outdoors for your coffee???

The ladder is 80cm high and approximately 60cm wide :)

Childs desk/sewing table & antique stool

I found this little desk for sale very locally, the elderly lady who was selling it had used it for her sewing table, however I think it lends itself to a little persons desk very easily too.
It was coffee-brown gloss, not so desirable really, but able to see past the unfortunate colour and cute shape, I fancied making it into a bright white romantic piece, sealed with wax for protection and glammed-up with new hardware.

So I was thinking along the lines of a very clean piece, but as I started working on it, I noticed the small character dents and nicks, it seemed to be calling out for a little bit of weathering! Some pretty paper to line the drawer and cupboard and I think we have a cute little piece to find a home for!
The stool is made in Czechoslovakia (as carved underneath) - the seller said that her Mother bought it many years ago, so we can assume this is an antique piece, its very well made and still strong and fits perfectly with the little desk.

One more before and after!

PS. The hardback book on the desk is by Rachel Ashwell, Couture Prairie, such beautiful images of her new (but very vintage) Texan ranch - really inspiring!
